Prologue

Cyril Eštok,
General Manager

Dear readers,

Thank you for reaching for this issue of Productivity magazine. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. Our editorial team has worked very hard to bring you an interesting read that provides new information from the world of industry, tightening and other aspects of life at Atlas Copco.

It is April, nature is awaking, the trees are in blossom, and the birds are flying back from warmer climates. Everywhere you look, new life is beginning. And we also want to bring something new to the world, something to help you solve your production problems or improve some of your processes. As always, this issue brings you some hot news, such as stories about Toolstation and Rapid-Torc.

The issue starts out by introducing a long-serving (but young in spirit) colleague Radim, who has successfully led the MVI for several years. You’ll find out what keeps him at Atlas Copco and what all those years have brought him. I hope they haven’t taken anything. Radim and other colleagues have been awarded for their faithful service. You can read more in the article on the employee loyalty recognition program.

As part of presenting Atlas Copco organisation, we welcome you to Hoeselt, Belgium, and give you a closer look at our distribution centre.

Other articles will show you the following: Web shopping is even easier — ACConnect became Shop Online. This year we’ll be exhibiting on Motek, the largest specialized trade show in Stuttgart. We’re keeping up with the times, to bring you a new electronic version of our catalogue. This version is for the iOS.

We are pleased to introduce our “Lean Academy” training concept for lean manufacturing — not just because it’s modern, but because it’s effective, too. This issue also has customers sharing their experience with our tools for their specific applications.

Besides technology, we’ll also talk about geography. Don’t worry — we won’t be repeating facts from an atlas. We’ll be taking a bit of a different look at one of the countries we serve. This time we’ve chosen Croatia. It’s a country of sun, wine, olive oil, and most of all, it’s a favourite holiday destination of East Europeans. If you want to know more, read on — or just go there.

We wish you an enjoyable read. Sincerely, Cyril
